IDS charity, Keep A Child Alive, is using star power to raise awareness for a special cause. The Good Cents Initiative asks Americans to save their pennies to help save the lives of children. How exactly does the program work? From the Keep A Child Alive website:

"KEEP A CHILD ALIVE is an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa. With more than 28 million dead and 15 million orphaned, the disease continues, wiping out whole societies, threatening economic infrastructure and creating tragic family devastation. We provide life-saving medication, support, and orphan care, to keep these children and families alive. Keep a Child Alive gives 100%* of public donations to our cause.  We’re asking companies to add one cent for Keep a Child Alive. Maybe it's on the receipt for a cup of coffee, or a penny added to the price of a cd- it's about really small amounts that quickly add up to make a huge difference. It's designed to have very little cost to companies and a tiny cost to their customers. But it will generate enough money to provide millions of children in Africa and India with lifesaving AIDS medication, support services, and orphan care. Less than a dollar a day keeps a child alive."
